Oil palm is a concrete illustration that planting trees is not always a good practice, especially when the trees are all the same. Instead of reforestation, the expansion of oil palm is actually deforesting diversity and slowly dying the surrounding areas. As a result, massive oil palm plantations produce a spiral of violence, not only to nature but also to the people who have no choice but to live with it.
